The route follows NH 48 south from Ahmedabad — Vadodara (90 min), Surat (4–5 hrs), Vapi, Vasai — and then bypasses Mumbai via the Eastern Express Highway or the newer Pune Expressway from Khopoli. The bypass takes roughly 90 minutes to navigate depending on traffic. Pune city entry from Khopoli is another 45–60 minutes.
Overnight departures are the most comfortable way to handle this route. Departing at 10–11 pm from Ahmedabad, the car rolls into Pune between 9 and 11 am. The driver gets a rest break at Surat (around 3 am) and the passengers can doze through the smoothest section of NH 48.
